The consultation period is now closed. Thank you to all who contributed and sent their comments and feedback. The questions raised during the consultation have been collated and can be read here:

QandA Consultation Gafta Standard for Analysis

Gafta has published a draft Code of Practice for Gafta Approved Analysts which includes new requirements for Analysts who wish to be Approved to issue Certificates of Analysis under Gafta contact terms and conditions.

PRESS RELEASE Draft Gafta Standard for Analysis of Agricultural Commodities

The key change in the Code of Practice is the need to hold a valid certificate of conformance to the Gafta Standard for Analysis and Testing, or a valid certificate of accreditation to the latest version of ISO17025. The scope of accreditation should include, as a minimum, the compulsory tests within the Gafta Ring Test Scheme.

It is proposed that the new requirements will be published on 1 June 2019 and Gafta Approved Analysts will have a 24 month transition period to allow time to meet the full requirements. There will be a phased approach to meeting the full requirements. Please see the timeline below for further details.

Views are sought from Members and stakeholders on the proposed changes. All feedback is welcome, however respondents may wish to focus on the following areas:

1. Draft Gafta Standard for Analysis February 2019
2. Draft Code of Practice For Gafta Approved Register of Analysts v1.0 January 2019
3. Summary of the proposed changes and timescales

All feedback should be sent in writing to or to Sarah Mann, Technical Manager, Gafta, 9 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, WC2A 3BP, United Kingdom.
