Gafta is delighted to announce that its Director General, Jaine Chisholm Caunt, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List 2022, for services to promote International Free Trade.

Jaine has been Director General of Gafta for 7 ½ years. Gafta is an International Trade Association representing over 1900 member companies in 98 countries who trade in agricultural commodities. It is estimated that around 80% of world grain is shipped on Gafta contracts. Gafta promotes free trade in agricultural commodities, as well as a science and evidence-based approach to international trade policy and regulatory decision making.

quote 3 Jaine is also a board member of two European Trade Associations in the Agricultural Commodity sphere, COCERAL and CELCAA, and two International Trade Associations, IGTC and IAFN. She is a former Chair of the IAFN which co-ordinates the Private Sector Mechanism at the UN Committee on World Food Security and is the current Chair of the Federation of Commodity Associations.
