Gafta Approved Register of Superintendents – Consultation

Gafta Approved Register of Superintendents – Consultation

Gafta has published a draft Code of Practice for Gafta Approved Superintendents which includes new requirements for Superintendents who wish to be Approved to provide their services under Gafta contact terms and conditions. Read the press release here: PRESS RELEASE Consultation June 2019

The key change in the Code of Practice is the removal of ISO9001 certification as a requirement for inclusion on the Gafta Approved Register – the only certification schemes which will be accepted are ISO17020 or the Gafta Standard for Supervision, Sampling and Check Weighing.

It is proposed that the new requirements will be published on 1 October 2019 and Gafta Approved Superintendents will have an 18 month transition period to allow time to meet the full requirements. Please see the timeline below for further details.

Views are sought from Members and stakeholders on the proposed changes. All feedback is welcome, however respondents may wish to focus on the following areas:

  1. The requirements of the Draft Gafta Standard for Supervision, Sampling and Check Weighing
  2. The requirements of the Approved Register of Superintendents, as laid out in the Draft Code of Practice
  3. The proposed timescales for implementation of the changes

All feedback should be sent in writing to ApprovedRegisters@gafta.com  or to Sarah Mann, Technical Manager, Gafta, 9 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, WC2A 3BP, United Kingdom before the closing date of Friday 2nd August 2019.
