Argentina announces export tax reductions for agri products from 4th June

Today, the Argentine government published a decree 423/2026 with export tax reductions for agri products.

Decree 423/2026 introduced a new permanent reduction in export duties for soybean, sunflower, corn, wheat, barley, and sorghum products.

The decree establishes two implementation mechanisms. For winter crops, the reduced rates apply immediately. For summer crops, the reductions follow a defined timetable so that the new rates are already in effect when the relevant production is marketed.

In addition, the decree lowers export duties on certain biofuels, including biodiesel made from rapeseed, safflower, Brassica carinata, and Camelina sativa oils to 0%; while biodiesel made from soybeans follows similar scheme than other soybean products.

    Implementation Structure

    • Annex I: tariff positions whose reduced rates apply immediately upon the decree entering into force. These include, among others, certain wheat and barley products, cereal flours and meals, malt, wheat starch, wheat gluten, food preparations based on flour or starch, and bran and milling residues.
    • Annex II: tariff positions subject to a gradual reduction schedule, including certain products linked to DJVE registrations.
    • Annex III: sets out the gradual reduction schedule for specific biodiesel products under tariff line 3826.00.00.

The decree enters into force on the 4th June 2026.
