Call for Gafta Council Nominations
The Council has called for candidates to fill 4 vacancies arising from the retirement of Rebecca Jones, Sorin Albeanu, Nicole Bavaud, Luc de Villele at the January 2026 Annual General Meeting.
All categories of membership are eligible to stand for election to Council except for Students and Individuals Not Engaged in the Trade.
Candidates must:
a. Be members in 'good standing' – nothing that could bring Gafta into disrepute or give concern that the individual was not a 'fit and proper person' to be a Director
b. Have at least 10 years' relevant experience
c. Be in a senior management role
d. Commit to attending board meetings regularly in person (and be prepared to be removed if they do not attend without good reason)
e. Submit a CV and be prepared to have an interview about why they wish to be a Director of Gafta, and what they feel they can bring to the role
f. Attend new Director training provided by Gafta
Nominations are encouraged from experienced individuals in the trade. To reflect the global nature of Gafta membership on Council, we would particularly welcome nominations from those based outside the UK, continental Europe and the USA.
A list of current council members and their biographies can be found at www.gafta.com/home-content/council/.
Nominations should be received at the Gafta London office, with details of a proposer and a seconder to the nomination, by Friday 5th December 2025. Proposer and seconder must be members of Gafta. Nominations may be sent by email to chrissimpson@gafta.com.
