Brussels, 29 June 2026 - COCERAL, the European association of trade in cereals, oilseeds, rice, pulses, olive oil, oils and fats, animal feed and agrosupply, published today the report on its mycotoxins management survey from 2025.

COCERAL members pursue an active role in managing the risk of mycotoxins development: agrosupply distributors by advising farmers all along the production cycle on agricultural practices to prevent mycotoxin development, and grains collectors and traders by analysing crop samples taken at harvest, in store, at loading before transport or at delivery.

Since 2007, COCERAL carries out, on a biannual basis, a survey among its members regarding mycotoxin management.

With 93% of survey participants sampling their products to monitor mycotoxins, the report highlights a continued awareness of our members in managing mycotoxin risks in food and feed. Agrosupply distributors work together with farmers at an early stage to prevent mycotoxin development in the field by recommending Fusarium spp resistant seeds and adapted fungicide treatments, and by offering advice on good agricultural practices. In all cases, these measures alone lead to a reduction of mycotoxin risk at farm level.

Moreover, the report 2025 aims to understand the point of view of grain collectors and international traders in:

•        The measures they take to prevent and mitigate mycotoxins risks in operations, including the ones asked by their customers

•        The measures their suppliers declare to prevent and mitigate mycotoxins risks in the field

•        Estimating which mycotoxins might become more prevalent in the future (next 10 years) in the countries where grains and oilseeds are sourced, also in relationship with effect of climate change

•        The constraints experienced or expected when new regulatory levels for mycotoxins are going to be proposed/voted in the European Union
