On 2nd April, the US administration announced a reciprocal tariff policy to rebalance global trade flows by imposing an additional ad valorem duty on trading partners in the interests of national security.
In summary:
Section2 & 3 - an additional ad valorem duty will start at 10% on imports into America from all countries on 5th April and shall be readjusted for all those countries in Annex 1 from 9th April.

Annex II sets out all the goods that are not subject to tariffs (see Executive Order below).
Canada and Mexico are not subject to the ad valorem duties in this Order but subject to tariffs under previous Orders addressing issues on Northern and Southern Borders – see earlier circulars.
Section 4 - Should any trading partner retaliate in response to this action, the Executive Order states that duties could be increased or decreased or scope of duties limited if situation is remedied.
