The April 2025 edition of Gaftaworld is now available on the Gafta website. This features articles on the harvests in Argentina, by Ezequiel Hajnal of Agrosud SA, and Brazil, by Jean Carlo Budziak of ANEC, with discussion on logistics, policies and the outlook for their countries in the new international landscape for trade. As bilateral and plurilateral trade agreements become more important in the current global geopolitical climate, we also look at the main parts of the EU-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement, which has not yet been ratified, that affect the grain and oilseeds sector.
We are grateful to Christopher Felton, Katie Dyson and Harriet Hughes of Gardner Leader who clarify the exclusive jurisdiction rules of Gafta arbitration, and Emma Skakle and Rebecca Crookenden of Stephenson Harwood LLP who look at the key changes for the commodities sector introduced by the Arbitration Act 2025, which is expected to enter into force in the near future.
