Brussels, 11 June 2025 - In its third forecast for the 2025 crop, COCERAL sees the total grain crop in the EU-27+UK at 300.7 mln t. This would be up from the 279.6 mln t harvested in 2024 and higher than the 296.1 mln t projected in March.
Wheat production (excluding durum) is expected at 143.1 mln t compared to 137.2 mln t forecast in March and 126.3 mln t last year. Upward revisions have been mainly made for southeastern Europe, Spain, and France due to favourable weather conditions. The EU-27+UK 2025 barley production is forecast at 59.2 mln t, up from the previous forecast of 58.8 mln t and from the 57.1 mln t reached in 2024.
The EU-27+UK 2025 corn crop is seen increasing year-on-year to 60.6 mln t (2024: 59.7 mln t). However, this is lower than the 63.3 mln t forecast in March. The more pessimistic view is due to downward revision in plantings and a bigger than expected switch to sunseed. The EU-27+UK rapeseed crop is forecast to recover from 17.9 mln t last year to 20.0 mln t in 2025, mainly because of a return to a normal planting pattern in Romania and Bulgaria and a recovery in yields in France and Germany. The forecast has not changed since March.
