The July edition of Gaftaworld is now on the Gafta website. This reports on the many meetings and events that took place during London Grains Week, 9-13 June, including the Gafta Annual Dinner on 11 June. We are very grateful to the sponsors for helping to make the 2025 Dinner as spectacular as it was.
This edition also includes an update by Michael Buisset and Amanda Rathbone of HFW on the progress being made with digitalisation of bills of lading. Key issues are now being addressed as the trade increases its use of EBLs and realise some of the benefits compared to paper. Dan Basse reports on discussions at GrainCom Geneva and G. Chandrashekhar reports on the market discussions at GPC Pulses 25. Gafta held successful panel discussions at both these events. Sustainability developments are also discussed; an article by the Centre for Food and Agriculture in Argentina describes its work on traceability and GHG emissions of Argentine soybeans, while Dr Wiphada Mitbumrung discusses the efforts being taken by the aquaculture industry to source sustainable feed.
We are also pleased to introduce Rohit Kumar, a new Gafta Qualified Arbitrator, who tells us about himself and his experiences with the Gafta training process.
