We are writing to inform you of a recent incident involving attempted domain impersonation of our organization, Grain and Feed Trade Association (Gafta).
It has come to our attention that fraudulent emails are being sent that appear to resemble our domain, branding and staff details.
These emails are not authorised by Gafta and may attempt to deceive recipients into sharing sensitive information or taking unauthorized actions.
What you need to know:
- The impersonating emails may use domains similar to ours (e.g., using lookalike characters or slight misspellings).
- These emails may include business recommendations, urgent requests, fake invoices, or links to malicious websites.
- Our official communications will only come from verified domains (e.g., @gafta.com).
- Our company and staff would never recommend third-party organisations to members as Gafta must remain impartial.
What you should do:
- Verify sender addresses before engaging with any suspicious messages.
- Do not click on any unknown links or download attachments from unexpected emails.
- Report any suspicious emails that claim to be from us to your company IT Department and notify Gafta by emailing post@gafta.com.
- Ensure your team is aware of this alert and exercises increased vigilance.
We are actively investigating the matter and have implemented measures to mitigate further risk. Your awareness and prompt reporting will help us maintain the security and trust we all value.
