Following on from our circular GN/2025/188 on EU lowering MRLs for copper, it has been reported that the European Commission has decided not to vote on MRLs reducing copper in agricultural commodities next month. Instead, they will not lower copper MRLs for the time being. The Commission will draft a separate regulation and give stakeholders an opportunity to collect and submit data on copper. The timing of this new proposal and how to submit the data will be discussed at the next regulatory committee in Brussels in November.
Members are encouraged to collect data particularly for wheat and rapeseed/canola where concerns meeting the new proposed limits were highlighted already by members. There were no problems flagged for pulses in meeting the newly proposed MRLs below.
Should you have data available, please inform junearnold@gafta.com to support advocacy efforts from international perspective.
