Today, the European Parliament’s press service informed that the Plenary session formally voted in favour of rules postponing implementation of EUDR requirements, by 405 votes to 242 and with 8 abstentions. The proposal adopted aims to simplify the implementation of the existing rules and postpone their application to allow operators, traders and authorities to prepare adequately including an extension of the application date by one year until 30th December 2026 and a simplification report and review by 30 April 2026.
Next steps: The provisional agreement must be formally approved by the Council expected soon, replacing the current EUDR so these changes enter into force. Expecting publication in the official journal before the end of the year.
