EU approves two Decisions on GMO authorisations: approving a sugar beet trait and renewing a corn trait
On 3rd March, the EU Commission has published:
- Decision (EU) 2026/457 authorising the placing on the market of food, food ingredients and feed produced from genetically modified sugar beet KWS20-1 pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council

- Decision (EU) 2026/485 renewing the authorisation for the placing on the market of products containing, consisting of or produced from genetically modified maize NK603 pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council

The GMO approvals will be valid for ten years and the applications apply to imports for food, feed and processing but not "for cultivation".
Decisions shall apply for a period of 10 years from the date of its notification.
