Agribility - Fumigation

This module deals primarily with the in-transit fumigation of bulk or bagged cargoes of combinable crops in vessels. We consider the various fumigation options including methods, procedures, efficacy and safety, and standards and guidelines that are relevant to fumigation of combinable crops and the relevance to marine fumigation in particular.

By the end of this module, the learner should be able to:

• Discuss the importance of fumigation.
• Identify different fumigants.
• Explain the role and duties of the fumigator.
• Discuss the processes of fumigation.
• Distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of various fumigation methods.
