Agribility - Marine Insurance

This module will provide an understanding of the role of marine insurance in international trade. This module focuses on cargo in particular, the physical risk of loss and or damage to the commodity. The module explores the obligation to insure, the extent of the cover under the policies, the practicalities of how to insure, the responsibilities imposed by an insurance contract plus the module examines claiming under a policy.

By the end of this module, the learner should be able to:

• Discuss how and why an insurance contract is made.
• Identify the rights and duties imposed under an insurance contract.
• Explain the implications of the legal statues.
• Discuss the different policies and their responsibility.
• Explain the relationship between insurance contracts and general average.
