07 Aug 2025-06 Aug 2026
This module will provide an understanding of the key elements of the Sale of Goods Act 1979. The Sale of Goods Act 1979 ("the SGA") provides a framework to govern the most important rights and obligations of the parties to a sale contract. Very often many of those rights and obligations will be expressly provided from by the parties in the contract which they agree between themselves for their specific transaction. But if they fail to cover an important issue the SGA provides a safety net to regulate the performance of the contract and enable it to go ahead and work by providing some default terms to cover their key rights and obligations.
By the end of this module, the learner should be able to:
- Discuss the importance of the Sale of Goods Act 1979
- Identify the key sections of the Sale of Goods Act 1979
- Explain how and why the terms apply to a contract.
- Identify the consequences of non-compliance.
- Discuss the impact of certificate final terms.
