The International Contracts Committee (ICC) is the Gafta committee that considers matters relating to Gafta standard form contracts and through which changes to the Gafta contracts are made to provide balanced contracts that meet the needs of the trade.
One vacancy has arisen on the committee, and applications are invited from Members in all categories that eligible to vote at General Meetings (this means all categories of members except Students and Individuals Not Engaged in the Trade).
Applicants must have substantial experience of working with Gafta contracts on a day-to-day basis and must have at least ten years' experience in the trade. There must be nothing that could bring Gafta into disrepute or give concern that the individual was not a 'fit and proper person' to be a member of the committee.
As the committee is globally representative, expressions of interest are especially welcome from Members from/located in the Middle East, Africa or APAC. These regions are currently unrepresented on ICC.
Applicants must submit a CV and be prepared to have an interview where they will be expected to explain what knowledge and experience, they can bring to the committee.
If there is a selection of applicants to fill the vacancies, the decision shall be made by vote from the continuing members of the ICC.
ICC meets three times a year, all meetings of the ICC will be held in person and applicants must be willing and able to attend the majority of these. Where a committee member is unable to attend a meeting, they will be encouraged to review the agenda and papers and submit written comments in advance.
If you are interested in applying to join the ICC, please email Abi Buxo at abibuxo@gafta.com by close of business Friday 17 May 2024, with a short summary of your reasons for wanting to join the committee and attaching your up-to-date CV.
