Call for Gafta Council Nominations
The Council has called for candidates to fill three vacancies arising from the retirement of Paul Harrison, Nicolas Janssens and Kathy Malone at the January 2027 Annual General Meeting.
All categories of membership are eligible to stand for election to Council except for Students and Individuals Not Engaged in the Trade.
Candidates must:
a. Be members in 'good standing' – nothing that could bring Gafta into disrepute or give concern that the individual was not a 'fit and proper person' to be a Director
b. Have at least 10 years' relevant experience
c. Be in a senior management role
d. Commit to attending board meetings regularly in person (and be prepared to be removed if they do not attend without good reason)
e. Submit a CV and supporting statement of up to 300 words, and be prepared to have an interview about why they wish to be a Director of Gafta, and what they feel they can bring to the role
f. Attend new Director training provided by Gafta
g. Agree to verify their identity with Companies House
To reflect the global nature of Gafta membership, nominations are encouraged from experienced individuals based outside of the UK and continental Europe. In addition, we would particularly welcome individuals working for a technical company on the Gafta Approved Registers.
A list of current council members and their biographies can be found at www.gafta.com/home-content/council/.
In order to be nominated an individual must:
i) Submit an up-to-date CV
ii) Submit a supporting statement of no more than 300 words explaining why they are suitable for a position on Council
iii) Be proposed by a Gafta member (an email must be received directly from the proposer)
iv) Be seconded by a Gafta member (an email must be received directly from the seconder)
All nomination documentation should be sent to the Gafta London office via post or via email to elections@gafta.com. The proposer and seconder must be members of Gafta. All nominations should be received by 17.00 GMT on Friday 4 December 2026.
