EU publishes guidance values for certain mycotxoins in feed
The European Commission published Recommendation 1801/2026 on the presence of DON, ZEA, OTA, T2 HT2 and Fumonisins in feed on 28th July 2026.
The guidance values to be applied by farmers and feed business operators are outlined in the Annex to judge the acceptability of the feed materials.
Member states are recommended to monitor with active involvement of the feed business operator the presence of the above mycotoxins in feed.
Recommended that samples are simultaneously analysed for the presence of above mycotoxins in the feed to allow the extent of the co-occurrence to be assessed.
If there is an exceedance, a risk assessment should be performed to ensure that the feed safety requirement is complied with. Para 7 also refers to “ensuring that sufficient information about the mycotoxin content of feed materials is provided to the compound feed manufacturer by the suppliers taking into account existing business to business contractual and non-contractual practices with regard to communication of information on product specifications”
Member states to provide a report to the EFSA by 30th June each year.
Application: The guidance values will apply from 1 July 2027 except for maize, sorghum, soybean and sunflower and their products, applicable from 1 October 2027.
