Gaftaworld – November 2026 edition now on Gafta website

The November 2026 edition of Gaftaworld is now on our website. This highlights the various meetings held by Gafta's Director General with U.S. organisations recently, strengthening partnerships and improving collaboration with the global trading community. We also feature an article by Chris Felton, Katie Dyson and Harriet Hughes of Gardner Leader LLP on force majeure in Gafta contracts, and an article by Johny Boerjan on the recent amendment to Clause 6 of Gafta No.131 Optional Clauses with regard to sampling in order to test for certain contaminants in a hold of less than 4,000 tonnes.

We are grateful for articles on the 2026 Canadian wheat crop, the problems facing Gulf importers by Anis Alam, the effects of El Niño on India's Kharif crop by G. Chandrashekhar, an overview of the global oilseeds market by Matt Ammermann, the benefits of trade for the circular economy by James Neilson, an update on the global rice market by Jean-Paul Schepens and a report from Anna Golodova on recent discussions within Ukraine about the crop size and export constraints in that country. Alan Ding also reports on China's focus on strengthening the grain supply chain for 2026-2030 and the recent meeting of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues. We are also delighted to introduce Geoff Farnsworth, who has extensive legal experience in international trade and is now a Gafta Qualified Arbitrator.
